Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the BJP in Nanoor, Birbhum, accusing the party of surreptitiously collecting bank details from the poor. She alleged that in Bihar, the BJP secretly deposited ₹8,000 into accounts before elections and is now attempting a similar tactic in Bengal. Warning citizens to remain vigilant, she cautioned that providing bank details to the opposition could result in unauthorized deductions under the guise of deposits.
She also addressed the Election Commission and the BJP regarding the SIR and Form Six. She alleged that the BJP is systematically including "outside voters" and fake names in the electoral rolls while instructing the deletion of legitimate nomination files. Banerjee claimed to have internal information about these secret operations, asserting that the official records would eventually reveal the truth behind these electoral discrepancies.
Highlighting the physical toll on the electorate, the Trinamool leader spoke about the harassment people face while standing in long queues for Aadhaar and voter list updates. She claimed that over 225 people have lost their lives due to the stress of these administrative hurdles.
